• राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू को डिली स्थित राष्ट्रपति भवन में राष्ट्रपति जोस रामोस होता द्वारा सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान, ग्रैंड कॉलर ऑफ ऑर्डर ऑफ तिमोर लेस्ते से सम्मानित किया गया
• भारत ने 2024 पेरिस ओलंपिक में कुल 6 पदकों के साथ समापन किया, जो समग्र पदक तालिका में 77वें स्थान पर रहा, जो 2020 टोक्यो ओलंपिक में उनके 48वें स्थान से कम है।
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में आर्थिक मामलों की मंत्रिमंडलीय समिति ने भारत के सात राज्यों में 24,657 करोड़ रुपये की लागत वाली आठ नई रेलवे परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी है।

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 109 new seed varieties on 11 August 2024, aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and farmers’ income.
• Three newly named underwater structures in the Indian Ocean ‘Ashoka Seamount, Chandragupta Ridge and Kalpataru Ridge’ have been named after rulers of the Maurya dynasty.
• India’s Olympic gold medalist shooter Abhinav Bindra has been elected as the second vice-president of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
• India’s Draupadi Murmu was conferred the highest civilian honour, the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor Leste, by President Jose Ramos Hota at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Dili.
• India finished with a total of 6 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, ranking 77th in the overall medal tally, lower than their 48th place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved eight new railway projects worth Rs 24,657 crore in seven states of India.
• The theme of the 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024 is ‘Developed India’, which represents the government’s vision to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of independence.
• TV Somanathan, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary, replacing Rajiv Gauba, whose five-year term ends this month
