The scheme to provide smart phones with one click to the needy children studying in government schools of Himachal Pradesh has started. Education Minister Govind Thakur launched the website for donating smart phones from the Secretariat. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Bollywood actress Yami Gautam virtually joined the program. Even before the launch of the scheme, industrialists and bankers have given 1150 smart phones to the education department. Due to the Corona crisis, online education is being conducted in the schools which are closed since March 2020.
Many students belonging to weaker sections are getting affected due to non-availability of smart phones. In view of this, the State Project Office of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan has started a scheme to collect smart phones for such students with the participation of the society. The scheme has been named as Digital Saathi – Children’s Sahara, Phone Hamara Abhiyan.
Under this campaign any person, organization, industrialist can donate smart mobile phone for children by visiting hpdigitalsaathi.in website. The smart phone given by the concerned person or organization can also be tracked through the website. The program also issued an appeal to actress Yami Gautam to donate her phone. The Chief Minister, while connecting with Siraj of district Mandi through virtual medium, said that the new technology has proved to be a boon for the children during the lockdown due to Corona epidemic. Har Ghar Pathshala program has been started for the convenience of the students.
80 percent of the students have been covered under this programme. It is the endeavor of the government that 100% students should be included in the programme. State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Virendra Sharma conducted the program. Director Elementary Education Pankaj Lalit expressed gratitude to the dignitaries. During this, the bankers and industrialists who gave the phone were also honored.
