भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा जारी की गई एक डिजिटल करेंसी है। इसे CBDC भी कहा जाता है | जिसका अर्थ सेंट्रल बैंक डिजिटल करेंसी है। इस डिजिटल करेंसी का मूल्य भौतिक रूप से संचालित हो रही करेंसी के समान ही होगा और यह हर जगह फिजिकल करेंसी के समान ही स्वीकार्य होगी। ई-रुपया केंद्रीय बैंक की बैलेंस शीट में देयता के तौर पर दर्ज होगा। RBI के अनुसार इस डिजिटल करेंसी का मुख्य उद्देश्य वित्तीय लेनदेन के लिए रिस्क फ्री वर्चुअल करेंसी जारी करना है। CBDC के दो महत्त्वपूर्ण उद्देश्य हैं | जिनमें से पहला डिजिटल करेंसी को लॉन्च करना व दूसरा उसे बिना किसी बाधा के संचालित करना है। RBI के अनुसार ई-रुपया एक परिवर्तनीय कानूनी प्रस्ताव के रूप में काम करेगा जिसके लिए धारकों के पास कोई बैंक खाता होना अनिवार्य नहीं है।

E-rupee
It is a digital currency issued by the Reserve Bank of India. It is also called CBDC. Which means Central Bank Digital Currency. The value of this digital currency will be the same as the currency in physical circulation and it will be accepted everywhere like physical currency. The e-rupee will be recorded as a liability in the balance sheet of the central bank. According to RBI, the main objective of this digital currency is to issue risk free virtual currency for financial transactions. CBDC has two important objectives. The first of which is to launch the digital currency and the second is to operate it without any hindrance. According to RBI, E-Rupee will work as a convertible legal tender for which it is not mandatory for the holders to have any bank account.
