The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has invited Online Recruitment Applications (ORA) for the recruitment of Assistant Director (Digital Forensics), Group-A (Job Trainee) in the Directorate of Forensic Services, Department of Home, Himachal Pradesh. Vacancy Details

HPPSC has advertised one vacancy for Assistant Director (Digital Forensics), Group A, on a Job Trainee basis. The vacancy is classified as Unreserved (UR).

Salary

The selected candidate will receive monthly emoluments of ₹40,500 under the Job Trainee engagement scheme mentioned in the notification. Candidates should read the official advertisement for the applicable engagement terms and conditions.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess at least a second-class postgraduate or equivalent qualification in one of the following fields from a recognised university:

• M.Sc. in Forensic Science
• M.Sc. in Digital Forensics
• M.Sc. in Cyber Forensics
• M.Sc. in Physics
• Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
• Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology (IT), or Electronic Communication

Required Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of post-qualification experience in research, training and analytical work in the relevant subjects specified in the advertisement. The experience must be acquired after obtaining the prescribed qualification. The experience certificate must be formally issued and signed by the research supervisor or the head of the organisation or department.

Important: The notification also contains a provision relating to research undertaken for a Ph.D. Candidates should carefully check the exact wording and applicability of this provision in the official advertisement before calculating their qualifying experience.

Desirable Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in one of the specified subjects.
• Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, along with suitability for the conditions prevailing in the state.

Age Limit

The prescribed age limit is 18 to 45 years, calculated as on 1 January 2026. A five-year upper-age relaxation is specified for eligible Bonafide Himachal Pradesh candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, Wards of Freedom Fighters and persons with disabilities, subject to the conditions stated in the notification. Other applicable relaxations are governed by the relevant Himachal Pradesh Government instructions.

Application Fee

The notification specifies a uniform examination fee of ₹600 for all candidates, irrespective of category or gender. Payment must be made online using the prescribed digital payment methods. The fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

The notification describes the following selection stages, subject to the applicable selection provisions and the number of eligible candidates:

1. Objective Type Screening Test and/or Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT), as applicable.
2. Personality Test.

Under the general examination scheme, Paper I is an objective screening test carrying 100 marks and lasting one hour. Its sections cover Himachal Pradesh general knowledge (30 marks), national and international affairs (30 marks), Hindi (20 marks) and English (20 marks). Paper II is a descriptive Subject Aptitude Test carrying 120 marks with a duration of three hours. The notification provides for a Personality Test carrying 30 marks. The Commission may apply the provisions for directly calling candidates for a Personality Test where the prescribed conditions are met. Candidates must consult the official advertisement and subsequent HPPSC updates for the procedure applicable to this post.

6. Upload the prescribed certificates, photograph, signature and supporting documents.
7. Pay the application fee through an authorised online payment method.
8. Review the form and uploaded documents before final submission.
9. Submit the application before 10 November 2026, 11:59 PM, and retain a copy for future reference.

• Matriculation certificate as proof of age.
• Degree certificates and marksheets supporting the prescribed educational qualifications.
• Experience certificate, where required.
• Applicable category certificate and supporting documents, if claiming reservation or relaxation.
• Bonafide Himachali certificate where required for a category claim.
• Latest photograph and scanned signature.
