HPPSC Deputy Director Recruitment 2026: Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has invited Online Recruitment Applications (ORA) for the recruitment of 04 posts of Deputy Director, Class-I (Gazetted), Group-A (Job Trainee) in the Department of Sainik Welfare, Himachal Pradesh.

The HPPSC Deputy Director Recruitment 2026 notification has been issued under Advertisement No. 60/9-2026. Eligible candidates can apply online through the HPPSC One Time Registration (OTR) portal. The last date to submit the online application and examination fee is 29 September 2026 up to 11:59 PM.

HPPSC Deputy Director Vacancy 2026

A total of 04 vacancies have been advertised for the post of Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare.

The notification specifies the vacancies as 03 Unreserved (Ex-Servicemen of HP) and 01 Scheduled Tribe of HP (Ex-Servicemen of HP). The number of posts is tentative and may increase or decrease.

HPPSC Deputy Director Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational and Professional Qualification

The candidate should be a retired/released Ex-Indian Army Commissioned Officer holding the rank of:

• Colonel
• Lieutenant Colonel
• Major
• Captain

Officers having an equivalent status in the Indian Navy or Indian Air Force are also eligible.

Desirable Qualification

Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, along with suitability for appointment under the peculiar conditions prevailing in the state, is desirable.

HPPSC Deputy Director Age Limit 2026

The candidate’s age should be below 57 years.

The age of the candidate will be reckoned as on 01 January 2026. The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate will be accepted for determining age.

Age relaxation for eligible categories will be applicable as per the Government of Himachal Pradesh instructions and the conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification.

HPPSC Deputy Director Salary 2026

Selected candidates appointed as Job Trainees for the post of Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare will receive ₹32,500 per month as job trainee emoluments.

The recruitment and engagement will be governed by the scheme for engagement of job trainees on a fixed amount in State Government departments and subsequent applicable orders/guidelines.

HPPSC Deputy Director Application Fee 2026

The notification specifies a uniform examination fee of ₹600 for all candidates irrespective of category or gender.

The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or another prescribed online digital payment mode. The examination fee, once paid, will not be refunded.

HPPSC Deputy Director Selection Process 2026

The notification provides for selection through written examination/screening and a Personality Test, subject to the number of eligible candidates and the applicable selection procedure.

Paper-I: Objective Type Screening Test

Where the full written-test procedure applies, Paper-I is a 100-mark objective-type screening test of one hour duration. The broad distribution is:

Paper-II: Subject Aptitude Test

Paper-II is a Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) of 120 marks and three hours duration. The detailed syllabus for Paper-II is to be uploaded by the Commission separately.

Personality Test

The written examination is followed by a Personality Test carrying 30 marks. The Personality Test is held at the Commission’s office in Shimla.

The minimum qualifying marks in the Personality Test are:

• General Category: 40% (12 marks)
• Reserved Categories: 30% (9 marks)

For the SAT, the minimum qualifying marks are 45% for General category candidates and 40% for reserved category candidates.

HPPSC Exam Negative Marking

Negative marking applies to objective-type screening tests conducted through CBT or offline mode.

• Wrong answer: 1/4 (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.
• More than one answer: Treated as a wrong answer and the same penalty applies.
• Question left blank: The notification specifies the same 1/4 penalty if no option is selected.
• An additional Option E is provided where a candidate does not want to answer a question and wishes to avoid the negative marking associated with an unanswered question.

HPPSC Deputy Director Examination Centre

The notification lists Shimla as the examination station/city. However, the Commission may change examination centres at its discretion depending on circumstances and availability.
