Applications are invited from potential candidates for the position of one Project Associate – II in SERB funded project in the laboratory of Dr Tulika Prakash Srivastava, IIT Mandi.
Project Title: Sewage Surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 genome: a useful technique for tracking the epidemiology of COVID-19 through wastewater systems in Himachal Pradesh.
Job profile: The Project Associate – II will help in performing R&D in the areas of COVID19 testing in sewage samples, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, followed by analysis and Computational Biology. The person will also be responsible for sample management, including sample collection and storage, perform routine nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, processing for NGS and other experiments, uploading of data and entry of metadata and other data management. In addition, the candidate is expected to perform any other work relevant to the project.
Eligibility: M.Sc./B. Tech or equivalent degree in Life Sciences/ Computational Biology/ Biotechnology or relevant subject area and 2 year’s experience in R&D in Industrial and Academic Institutions or S&T Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
Age limit: 35 years Selection criteria:
Desirable: Knowledge and experience in computational biology and experimental biology, and those who have qualified GATE or CSIR/UGC/DBT JRF or any other equivalent national level exam or having post graduate degree in engineering will be preferred. Excellent communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, Willingness to learn new techniques. Familiarity with Data handling, and NGS is an added advantage. IIT Mandi reserves the right to fix a higher criteria for short-listing of eligible candidates from those satisfying the advertised qualification and requirement of the project post. Fellowship: 35,000 + HRA as per SERB guidelines. Duration: For 1 year. The selected candidate will need to join the project immediately.
