मेजर ध्यानचंद खेल रत्न पुरस्कार
देश के सर्वोच्च खेल पुरस्कार का नाम अब मेजर ध्यानचंद खेल रत्न पुरस्कार किया गया है। यह पुरस्कार अभी तक पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री राजीव गांधी के नाम पर राजीव गांधी खेल रत्न पुरस्कार के नाम से जाना जाता था। हॉकी के जादूगर के रूप में विख्यात मेजर ध्यानचंद के नाम पर इस पुरस्कार का नामकरण करने की घोषणा प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने 6 अगस्त, 2021 को की। उन्होंने कहा कि खेल रत्न पुरस्कार का नाम मेजर ध्यानचंद के नाम पर करने के लिए देशभर के नागरिकों के अनुरोध प्राप्त हो रहे थे उनकी भावनाओं का सम्मान करते हुए ही इस पुरस्कार का नाम मेजर ध्यानचंद खेल पुरस्कार किया गया है।
Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award
The country’s highest sports award has now been named Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. This award was till now known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award after the name of former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The naming of this award after Major Dhyan Chand, who is known as the magician of hockey, was announced by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on August 6, 2021.He said that requests were being received from citizens across the country to name the Khel Ratna Award after Major Dhyan Chand, honoring their sentiments, the award has been named Major Dhyan Chand Khel Award.
