Mass Movement in Nalagarh
In 1876-77 AD, the people of Nalagarh revolted against the ruler because of his tyranny. Then Ishwar Singh succeeded the throne of Nalagarh and did many reforms in the state e.g. released the prisoners, deposed the corrupt officials, etc. He reappointed the old Wazir Gulam Kadir Khan who levied taxes on people. He also raised tax on land. The people were unable to pay the tax, they requested the Raja to exempt that, but he did nothing in this case. Thus, people organised many assemblies and marched against the ruler and wazir. Then the British intervened in the revolt and made peace in the state.
