- Akbar had sent his finance minister, Raja Todar Mal to attack Kangra; in this process the state of Chamba lost Rihlu, Chari and Gharol. Raja Pratap Singh Varman of Chamba was contemporary of Akbar remained loyal to Mughal.
- In the battle of Dhalog (near Dalhousie) which was fought between Raja Janardhan of Chamba and Raja Jagat Singh of Nurpur in 1623 AD, Janardhan was murdered when he was deceptively invited to Mughal court to settle and have negotiations with Jagat Singh. After this Chamba came under the rule of Jagat Singh for two decades.
- Jagat Singh revolted against the Mughals. Shahjahan sent army under the command of Murad Baksh in 1641 AD. Janardhan’s son Prithvi Singh found right time for restoration of the throne with the help of Mandi and Suket and emerged successful.
- Raja Chatar Singh who was contemporary of Aurangzeb, refused to obey royal order of demolition of all temples in Chamba state. He organized hill chief against Mughal army led by Mirza Beg. Consequently, the Mughal got defeated
