Salient Features of NSLY
- According to a 2018 NITI Aayog report, 600 million Indians face high to extreme water stress and about two lakh people die every year due to inadequate access to safe water.
- By 2030, the country’s water demand is projected to be twice the available supply, implying severe water scarcity for hundreds of millions of people and an eventual ~6% loss in the country’s GDP.
- Studies also show that 84% of rural homes have no access to piped water, with more than 70% of the country’s water contaminated.

NSLY . की मुख्य विशेषताएं
- 2018 NITI Aayog की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 600 मिलियन भारतीय अत्यधिक पानी के तनाव का सामना करते हैं और सुरक्षित पानी की अपर्याप्त पहुंच के कारण हर साल लगभग दो लाख लोग मर जाते हैं।
- 2030 तक, देश की पानी की मांग उपलब्ध आपूर्ति से दोगुनी होने का अनुमान है, जिसका अर्थ है कि करोड़ों लोगों के लिए पानी की गंभीर कमी और देश के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद में ~ 6% की हानि।
- अध्ययनों से यह भी पता चलता है कि 84% ग्रामीण घरों में पाइप से पानी नहीं है, देश का 70% से अधिक पानी दूषित है।
