Himachal Pradesh Fisheries Department Receives SKOCH Gold Award 2025 for Golden Mahseer Conservation

हिमाचल प्रदेश के मत्स्य पालन विभाग को गंभीर रूप से लुप्तप्राय गोल्डन माहशीर मछली के संरक्षण और कैप्टिव प्रजनन योजना की सफलता के लिए प्रतिष्ठित स्कॉच गोल्ड अवॉर्ड 2025 से सम्मानित किया गया। यह पुरस्कार 20 सितंबर 2025 को नई दिल्ली के इंडिया हैबिटेट सेंटर में प्रदान किया गया।
- गोल्डन माहशीर हिमाचल प्रदेश, जम्मू-कश्मीर, उत्तराखंड और अरुणाचल प्रदेश की राज्य मछली है।
- विभाग ने 2024-25 में 87,000 अंगुलिकाओं का उत्पादन और 34,500 अंगुलिकाओं का जलाशयों में संग्रहण किया।
- पौंग और गोबिंदसागर जलाशयों में क्रमशः 20,000 व 14,500 अंगुलिकाएं छोड़ी गईं।
- शिमला जिले के सुन्नी में नया मछली फार्म भी गोल्डन माहशीर संरक्षण के लिए विकसित किया जा रहा है।
- यह उपलब्धि जलीय जैव विविधता संरक्षण और इको-टूरिज्म को बढ़ावा देने की दिशा में प्रदेश सरकार की एक महत्वपूर्ण पहल है।

The Fisheries Department of Himachal Pradesh has been honored with the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award 2025 for its exemplary efforts in the conservation of critically endangered Golden Mahseer through a successful captive breeding program. The award was presented on 20th September 2025 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
- Golden Mahseer is the State Fish of Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh.
- In FY 2024-25, the department successfully produced 87,000 fingerlings and stocked 34,500 fingerlings in reservoirs. 20,000 were released in Pong reservoir and 14,500 in Gobind Sagar.
- A new fish farm at Sunni, Shimla will further aid conservation efforts.
- This achievement highlights the state’s commitment to biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries, and promotion of eco-tourism.
