प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना (शहरी) का दिसम्बर, 2024 तक विस्तार
यह योजना शहरी क्षेत्रों में सभी पात्र व्यक्तियों को पक्के मकान उपलब्ध कराने के लिए 2015 में शुरू की गई। इसका विस्तार दिसम्बर, 2024 तक के लिए कर दिया गया है। जून, 2015 में शुरू की गई इस योजना के तहत सभी शहरी क्षेत्रों में जरूरतमंद लोगों को 31 मार्च, 2022 तक पक्के आवास उपलब्ध कराने का लक्ष्य था। इस योजना के तहत कुल स्वीकृत 122.69 लाख मकानों में से 62 लाख आवासों का निर्माण पूरा हो चुका है। स्वीकृत आवासों में से 40 लाख आवासों के प्रस्ताव राज्यों / केन्द्रशासित प्रदेश को देर से ( योजना के अन्तिम दो वर्षों के दौरान ) प्राप्त हुए थे, जिन्हें पूरा करने के लिए अभी दो वर्ष की आवश्यकता है। अतः राज्यों/केन्द्रशासित क्षेत्रों के अनुरोधों को देखते हुए इस योजना के कार्यान्वयन की अवधि को दो वर्ष बढ़ाकर इसे 31 दिसम्बर, 2024 तक करने का निर्णय केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमण्डल की 10 अगस्त, 2024 की बैठक में किया गया।

Extension of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) till December 2024
This scheme was launched in 2015 to provide pucca houses to all eligible persons in urban areas. It has been extended till December 2024. Launched in June 2015, the target was to provide pucca houses to the needy people in all urban areas by March 31, 2022. Out of the total approved 122.69 lakh houses under this scheme, the construction of 62 lakh houses has been completed. Out of the sanctioned houses, proposals of 40 lakh houses were received late (during the last two years of the scheme) by the States/UTs, which require two years to complete. Therefore, in view of the requests of the States/UTs, the decision was taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet on August 10, 2024 to extend the period of implementation of this scheme by two years till December 31, 2024.
