HPPSC Medical Officer (General Wing) Recruitment 2026 – 228 Vacancies, Eligibility, Apply Online

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 62/9-2026 for the recruitment of 228 Medical Officer (General Wing) (Job Trainee) posts in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Himachal Pradesh. The advertisement is dated 19 September 2026.

HPPSC Medical Officer Vacancy 2026

A total of 228 vacancies have been notified for Medical Officer (General Wing) posts. The vacancies include Unreserved, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen, Wards of Freedom Fighters and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities categories as specified in the official advertisement.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule, other than licentiate qualifications, to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Candidates holding qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule must fulfil the conditions specified under Section 13(3) of the Act.

Completion of compulsory rotating internship is also required.

Desirable Qualification

• Post Graduate Degree or Diploma recognized under the applicable medical qualification schedules.
• Postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution as mentioned in Appendix-A.
• Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment under the conditions prevailing in the state.

Age Limit

The prescribed age limit is 18 to 45 years. The age of candidates will be calculated as on 1 January 2026.

A relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit is available to Bonafide SC, ST, OBC, WFF and Persons with Disabilities of Himachal Pradesh, subject to the conditions mentioned in the advertisement. Age relaxation for Himachal Pradesh Government employees and Ex-Servicemen will be as per applicable Government instructions.

Salary / Emoluments

The selected candidates will be engaged as Job Trainees and will receive emoluments of ₹34,000 per month, as specified in the vacancy details.

Application Fee

The examination fee mentioned in the advertisement is ₹600 for all candidates, irrespective of category or gender.

The fee can be paid through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or other prescribed online digital modes. The examination fee, once paid, is non-refundable.

Selection Process

The selection process may include the following stages:

1. Objective Type Screening Test / Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test
2. Personality Test

Where the number of eligible candidates is six or fewer per post, candidates may be directly called for the Personality Test. In other cases, the Commission may conduct written tests followed by the Personality Test.

Paper-I Exam Pattern

Paper-I is a one-hour Computer Based Test (CBT) or Offline Screening Test carrying 100 marks and consisting of objective-type Multiple Choice Questions.

Paper-II – Subject Aptitude Test

Paper-II is a descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) of three hours carrying 120 marks. The syllabus is to be decided by the Commission from time to time.

Negative Marking

Negative marking applies to objective-type screening tests. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. If a candidate leaves a question blank without selecting the designated Option E, the same penalty applies.

Each objective question has four answer options, A to D, along with an Option E for candidates who do not want to answer the question.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks in the Subject Aptitude Test for appearing in the Personality Test are:

• General Category: 45%
• Reserved Categories: 40%

The Personality Test carries 30 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% (12 marks) for General Category candidates and 30% (9 marks) for reserved category candidates.

Documents Required

• Matriculation certificate for age proof.
• Degree certificate along with marks sheets of all years or consolidated marks sheet.
• Experience certificate, wherever required.
• Valid category certificate, wherever applicable.
• Bonafide Himachali Certificate for reserved category candidates.
• Valid EWS/BPL certificate, wherever applicable.
• Ex-Servicemen Discharge Certificate/Service Book, wherever applicable.

Candidates must upload the required documents on the OTRS portal as prescribed in the advertisement.
