आईटीबीपी (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) में कार्यरत असिस्टेंट कमांडेंट जोगिंद्र कुमार शर्मा को उनकी 33 वर्षों से अधिक की उत्कृष्ट, निष्कलंक एवं विशिष्ट सेवाओं के लिए गणतंत्र दिवस के अवसर पर भारत के राष्ट्रपति द्वारा पुलिस पदक से सम्मानित किया गया है। जोगिंद्र कुमार शर्मा मूल रूप से हिमाचल प्रदेश के जिला ऊना, उप-तहसील जोल की ग्राम पंचायत अंबेहड़ा धीरज के निवासी हैं। उनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा अंबेहड़ा स्कूल में हुई तथा दसवीं कक्षा की शिक्षा चौकी मन्यार स्कूल से पूर्ण की। उन्होंने 19 अक्टूबर 1992 को आईटीबीपी में सब-इंस्पेक्टर के रूप में सेवाएं प्रारंभ कीं, जिनका चयन ऑल इंडिया प्रतियोगी परीक्षा के माध्यम से हुआ था। सेवा काल के दौरान उन्होंने आईटीबीपी की प्रत्येक ट्रेनिंग में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया और कई ट्रॉफियां प्राप्त कीं। उनकी कार्यकुशलता एवं मेरिट के आधार पर उनका चयन स्पेशल प्रोटेक्शन ग्रुप (SPG) में हुआ, जहाँ उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री की सुरक्षा में 9 वर्षों से अधिक समय तक सेवाएं दीं। इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय (PMO) में भी 6 वर्षों तक सेवाएं प्रदान कीं। SPG में उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं के लिए उन्हें पूर्व में पुलिस स्पेशल ड्यूटी मेडल से भी सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। वर्तमान में वे ITBP Headquarters में कार्यरत हैं।
Assistant Commandant Joginder Kumar Sharma of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been honoured with the Police Medal by the President of India on the occasion of Republic Day for his outstanding, unblemished and over 33 years of distinguished service. He is a native of Ambedha Dheeraj village, Jol sub-tehsil, Una district of Himachal Pradesh. He joined ITBP on 19 October 1992 as a Sub-Inspector after qualifying through an All-India Competitive Examination. Throughout his service, he consistently excelled in ITBP training programmes and earned several trophies. On the basis of merit and professional excellence, he was selected for the Special Protection Group (SPG), where he served as a security officer for the Prime Minister for over nine years. He also rendered services in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for six years. For his exemplary service in SPG, he was earlier awarded the Police Special Duty Medal. Currently, he is serving at the ITBP Headquarters.
