चौधरी सरवण कुमार हिमाचल प्रदेश कृषि विश्वविद्यालय ने टमाटर की दो नई उच्च उपज देने वाली किस्में ‘हिम पालम टमाटर-1’ और ‘हिम पालम टमाटर-2’ विकसित की हैं। ये किस्में जीवाणु मुरझान रोग के प्रति प्रतिरोधी हैं, जो हिमाचल प्रदेश में टमाटर की खेती के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौतियों में से एक है।

नई किस्मों की मुख्य विशेषताएँ:

हिम पालम टमाटर-1: जीवाणु मुरझान रोग प्रतिरोधी, लंबे पौधों वाली, गहरे लाल रंग के गोल फल (65–70 ग्राम), 70–75 दिनों में तैयार, औसतन पैदावार 250–275 क्विंटल प्रति हेक्टेयर। निचले और मध्य पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों के लिए उपयुक्त।
हिम पालम टमाटर-2: जीवाणु मुरझान रोग प्रतिरोधी, लंबे पौधों वाली, गहरे लाल रंग के लंबे फल मोटे छिलके वाले (70–75 ग्राम), 70–75 दिनों में तैयार, औसतन पैदावार 240–260 क्विंटल प्रति हेक्टेयर। निचले और मध्य पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों के लिए उपयुक्त।
