The Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA), Hamirpur has released the detailed syllabus for the post of Laboratory Assistant (Document & Photography). Candidates preparing for the HPRCA Laboratory Assistant exam must go through the subject-wise syllabus and exam pattern given below.

a) Introduction to Forensic Science

  • Definition, history and development of forensic science
  • Principles and scope of forensic science
  • Organizational structure of forensic laboratories in India
  • Crime scene management and types of evidence
  • Chain of custody and integrity of evidence
  • Standard operating procedures for evidence collection
  • Digital evidence from crime scene
  • Quality control, quality assurance
  • Frye standard and Daubert standard

b) Introduction to New Laws

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita
  • Bharatiya Shakshya Adhiniyam
  • Relevant provisions applicable to forensic science

  • Nature and problems of questioned documents
